About

OUR STORY

I started the Wallasey Food Fair in September 2014, when we were originally based in St Mary's College in Wallasey Village. I was looking for a way to bring local producers together and offer the community I lived in a great way to shop.

The idea of a farmers market really appealed to me as you are able to chat to the person running the stall, who are for the most part the person who actually creates the product. This means you can find out exactly where it's come from and how it's made. It's so much more interactive than going to a supermarket, and I thought there were enough like minded people to make it a success.

Three years on, with a venue and a name change, I can say it's been a great experience. It's been wonderful to see the market grow, and as we now also  include some amazing craft producers along with non food stalls, we updated the name to the Wallasey Food Fair & Makers Market to reflect that.

At the end of 2016 we had to make a change of venue, and I'm pleased to say that The Mosslands School has created an even better market than we had before.

We now regularly see over 40 stallholders attending, covering a wide range of items. As from the day we first opened, I try to keep the produce as local as possible, but as with all things it's not always realistic. I believe that it's best to bring together a great variety of produce for you, the customer to choose from. If you have any concerns about where things have been made, just ask the stallholder. They are a friendly bunch and will be more than happy to chat with you about your queries.

If you have not joined us yet, then I hope you are able to come along soon and enjoy the great atmosphere and fantastic produce.

With thanks, Sally
